Phuket is the quintessential beach resort holiday destination. There is a great mixture of beaches, from the commercialized Patong Beach, to untapped treasures such as Nai Yang. Phuket has it all.
Patong Beach
This is easily the most famous beach on the island. Patong Beach is generally busy all year and awash with a host of water sports. If you are looking for idyllic tranquility, Patong Beach is not really the one for you. The beach is still very nice though.
Karon Beach
Situated on the sunset west coast of the island, Karon Beach is a favorite for tourists. This long stretch of fluffy white sands attracts holidaymakers because of the space and cleanliness you are afforded. Nice beach!
Kata Beach
The is a small but aesthetically pleasing beach situated immediately south of Karon. Kata Beach is more of a bay, protected by mountains. The crystal blue waters and the water sports make this beach popular with families.
Kata Noi Beach
This beach is situated within a small bay with picturesque golden sands. Because of its location, not so many people visit Kata Noi Beach, even though it is one of the islands finest.
Nai Harn Beach
This is reputed to be the best beaches in Phuket. This is a great spot for sunbathing and snorkeling. This area is mostly undeveloped, apart from a handful of five-star resorts. The location on the southwestern coast a tranquil and idyllic one.
Panwa Beach
This beach is situated on the east coast at Panwa bay. Mangroves, luscious palms and a wealth of natural scenery surround this un-spoilt beach.
Kamala Beach
This beach is situated directly north of Patong, and is a favorite with families. The enclosed bay at this fishing village is great for sunbathing and snorkeling.
Surin Beach
Directly north of Kamala, you will find Surin Beach. Surin is known as Phukets millionaire row, with some of the trendiest properties on Phuket. The fine white sands and a good selection of adjoining beach bars and restaurants make this beach a must visit.
Bang Tao Beach
This beach is situated directly north of Surin and shares many similarities. The northern tip of the beach is untouched, allowing you that feeling of having the beach to yourself.
North East Coast Beaches
This area of Phuket is where you will find the picturesque wilderness beaches you might see on a postcard. Three of the most untouched beaches in this area are Nai Thon, Nai Yang and Mai Khao. These beaches are natural beauties and relaxing on these golden sands is a personable experience.
Hotel Recommendation Phuket
I like Nai Harn beach and by my personal opinion this is the best beach in Phuket. Kata beach is very nice too especially because it is nearly deserted so you can have comfort of privacy.
Some Phuket beaches are very nice, excepts the rocky one, but honestly I prefer to take a day trip to the closest islands and have even better experience.
Most beaches are very nice, there are few which are rocky, but probably better for relaxation. It is always good idea to take a boat trip to some of the surrounding islands.
On the other hand renting villa with private swimming pool is also a good option. Most Phuket beaches are ok for swimming, however some are really rocky.
