The Jomtien Beach has good quality white sand and a very long coastline to enjoy. The beach is much more peaceful here than its counterpart of Pattaya further up the coast. The beaches are always kept in a pristine condition by the many vendors who are there to look after all your needs.

Along the early part of the straight beach road you will find many souvenir shops, international restaurants, food stalls. But at the far end of the beach road there are very good seafood restaurants and it is where you can find yourself at times the only person soaking up the sun.

You can also swim late into the night along a large part of the beach as the sands are floodlit which makes for a very safe environment to swim after the sun has gone down. May be you only want to simply find a quiet bar for any drink of your choosing. Many are available and the prices have to be seen to be believed.

Jomtien beach simply has it all without having to travel long distances. By the end of October in Thailand finishes so called “rain season”, so now it’s just the right time to visit this country and to see all its sightseeing.

Before going to one of its sea resorts, most of which have recovered from the last year’s tsunami, it could be very interesting to spend some time in Thailand’s capital – Bangkok. Bangkok is 8-million metropolis. You can live here for several years but still find something new. However 24 hours is quite enough to fall in love with the city and to see the best it can offer.
For the last 200 years Bangkok has been the residence of the Tai’s kings. Live in Bangkok boils up round the clock. All the big shops and small stores are open 24 hours a day. The night is the best time in Bangkok. No heat, bright lights… Even the mud, so usual for the oriental city seems to hide under the cover of the dark.

You can choose only one of them – and see the most beautiful Thai’s traditions and the most impressive national dresses.

For men looking to get more out of life…

I have 3 questions for you:
1. Have you ever wanted to retire to a sunny tropical climate?
2. Are you disenfranchised with the way things are going in your society and culture?
3. Do you long to become happy again?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you may need to discover foreign lands. Those lands that completely break the norm and boundaries of your current culture.

I did just such a thing when I visited Thailand for the first time, and I’ve been going back ever since. I fell in love with the country so much that I plan to retire there early, and spend the rest of my life as an expat.

Why do I want to do so, here are several reasons:
1.   I love warm tropical climates
2.   An abundance of single appreciative women
3.   I need a country where my money can go a long way
4.   I always wanted to live on the beach
5.   It seems as though I no longer fit in

Finances

One of the main things to consider when planning such a move is finance. Although your dollars may go much further in Thailand, to under-finance your new life will be disastrous. You must look at the big picture. Once over there, your options to create income will be minimal…so you must save! 10 to 20 grand is not going to do it for you.

Most Popular Areas for Expats In Thailand

Two of the most popular areas for expats in Thailand are Bangkok and Pattaya. Bangkok is an incredibly large city with all those goes along with a huge metropolis:
1.   Shopping
2.   Dining
3.   Arts
4.   Nightlife

Pattaya is a beach resort area huge into the nightlife. Pattaya first started out as an “R and R” spot for American soldiers during the Vietnam War and has been going strong ever since.

You don’t have to limit yourself to these two areas, but first time expats are usually most comfortable in Bangkok or Pattaya due to the large expat communities.

Visa Runs

Once in Thailand, there is also the subject of remaining there legally. Most vacationers are granted a 30-day visa. When this is nearing an end, you must leave the country and re-enter so you are granted a new 30-day visa. This is a practice that will continue with your tenure in Thailand, unless you do the paperwork with the Thai government for a retirement visa.

Most expats choose to go on visa runs. In fact there are casinos built right on the Cambodian border for just this purpose.

Located in North Thailand – Chiang Mai is another place which is a combination of modern city life and the old village charm. There are elaborate temples and cultural relics some of which are very old close to 700 years. On the top of the mountain is Doi Suthep monastery which overlooks the fertile valley embracing Chiang Mai. The local night bazaar is the favorite shopping place for tourists where you can get hand made local stuff, tribal wears and also latest modern junks for a good bargain.

You will have no problem communicating as most of the hotels, restaurants and tourist places speak English and other European languages. There are various modes of transportation. You can either hire a taxi to go around the city, or take the city bus .There is also something called Tuk-Tuk, a three wheeler. You would definitely enjoy the open air ride on this three wheeler and for longer destinations there are trains always running to all the places.

Thailand is blessed with three seasons-summers from February to May, Rainy season from June to October with plenty of sunshine and the cold season from November to January. A lot of people go for holidays in Thailand during December and January as it is the perfect season to relax and party. Thailand becomes a mini world as people from all over the world come here for holidays during this season.
